Curriculum

Year 1
In first year you will be introduced to journalism skills such as newsgathering, reporting and writing. You will also be introduced to the intellectual and scholarly aspects of journalism and to the ethics and regulations that regulate this profession.

Year 2
In the second year you will build on your print skills with an advanced journalism-writing course; you will learn to research, report, write and produce live radio and television news. You also learn the fundamentals of online journalism.

Year 3
In your final year, you will enrol in an industry-based internship course while completing advanced courses in radio and television news and current affairs. You will also be fully involved – in our multi-disciplined newsroom - in producing the hard and online copy of City Journal, the RMIT journalism student’s publication.

Electives
Throughout your degree, you will also have the chance to select a number of courses from a wide range of school and university electives.
